On December 12, 2010 two aircraft landed on the wrong runway at Ovda Airport (VDA/LLOV), Israel, according to Haaretz Newspaper.
Haaretz learned that in the afternoon, at the height of a severe storm, a Lockheed C-130 Hercules transport plane belonging to the Italian army was cleared to land on runway 02L/20R. However the airplane landed on the parallel runway 02R/20L.
About 15 minutes later, Aeroflot flight SU501, an Airbus A320, also landed on the wrong runway.
According to initial findings, both landing errors were due to poor visibility and a mistake in the lighting system. Apparently, the landing lights turned on by the control tower were for the wrong runway.
